Kangstem Biotech signed a MOU(memorandum of understanding) with Woodang Network on the 29th to develop a human-like verification and evaluation model of skin organoids based on skin organoid-artificial intelligence(AI) convergence technology.

Through this MOU, the two companies plan to ▲establish a skin organoid disease model and establish evaluation criteria data ▲develop skin organoid analysis AI technology ▲and establish an AI-based skin organoid evaluation method. 


Kangstem Biotech will conduct clinical verification with Woodang Network to objectively and efficiently confirm the similarity between the atopic organoid model and the actual skin of atopic patients. To this end, the company said it will administer therapeutic drugs to organoids and atopic patients to collect data such as biomarkers, skin barrier levels, and immune cell characteristics before and after drug administration. The companies will then evaluate the similarities between organoid and atopic patients in terms of pathologic features and response to the drug.


The agreement aims to confirm that the application of various therapeutic agents in organoid models of atopic disease can be tested for efficacy in the same way as in human patients. In particular, it is expected that Kangstem Biotech's atopic organoid platform will become a reliable test method that can replace animal testing by improving the accuracy of data analysis and efficient quantification through the application of AI technology.
