Kangstem Biotech continues business discussions with global pharmaceutical companies that held partnering meetings at the BIO International Convention 2024 (Bio USA). At BIO USA, more than 20 multinational pharmaceutical companies from various regions including the United States, Europe, China, and Japan showed interest in Furestem's therapeutics and organoids.

In this meeting, Kangstem Biotech focused on the atopic stem cell therapy 'Furestem-AD® Inj.', which is about to announce the results of Phase III clinical trials, and discussed specific details regarding the conduct of global clinical trials including the U.S. with U.S. global pharmaceutical companies and European dermatology specialty pharmaceutical companies. Most of the companies expected it to be highly competitive as a new drug compared to existing treatments in that it has no side effects and medium- to long-term efficacy based on clinical data such as long-term follow-up surveys.

There was also interest in FURESTEM-OA Kit Inj., which aims to treat osteoarthritis with a single dose. Despite the early stage of Phase 1 clinical trials, the data of pain reduction at low, medium, and high doses and structural improvement such as cartilage regeneration and inflammation reduction obtained through imaging evaluation of the low dose group have led to follow-up meetings with many global pharmaceutical companies.

In addition, a Chinese pharmaceutical company official said, “Existing osteoarthritis treatments are only effective in relieving pain, and generic competition is saturated. Therefore, there is a high need for high-value-added medicines such as Purestem-OA Kitju that can provide fundamental treatment in the aging population.”

In the case of organoids, a next-generation therapeutic, the company received a preliminary meeting request from a major global pharmaceutical company, followed by a second meeting in the U.S. In particular, the company shared specific research results of a dermal organoid-based hair transplant treatment that minimizes side effects and increases convenience by eliminating the need for autologous hair follicle harvesting compared to conventional hair transplantation, and expressed high interest. and meeting company is investing in organoid portfolios.

Meanwhile, Kangstem Biotech is preparing to announce the results of Phase 3 clinical trials of Furestem-AD® Inj., the world's first stem cell treatment for atopic dermatitis, and Phase 1 clinical trials of FURESTEM-OA Kit Inj., a treatment for radical osteoarthritis through a single injection.
