Kangstem Biotech held partnership meetings with over 20 global companies at BIO EUROPE and established collaborations to expand the reach of its osteoarthritis treatment, OSCA, into international markets.

OSCA is an advanced biofusion treatment for osteoarthritis that has completed Phase I clinical trials in Korea. It aims to fundamentally treat osteoarthritis through an intra-articular injection into the knee joint cavity, without the need for surgery or invasive procedures. The Phase I trial confirmed the safety of OSCA and demonstrated improvements in pain as well as structural regeneration, including cartilage and subchondral bone. Given its promising early clinical results and potential as a groundbreaking osteoarthritis treatment, the company signed a domestic licensing agreement with YooYoung Pharmaceutical, a company specializing in musculoskeletal treatments.

As a cutting-edge biofusion therapy, the clinical trial results and domestic licensing deal have attracted significant interest from both local and global companies. In a meeting with a global pharmaceutical company based in Switzerland, which specializes in regenerative medicine for cartilage, tissue, and bone, the company's technology and business evaluation teams held in-depth discussions about OSCA. The Swiss company, which had expressed interest in OSCA's clinical data even before BioEurope, recognized the potential of OSCA as a Disease Modifying Osteoarthritis Drug (DMOAD), setting it apart from existing therapies. Both sides agreed to continue discussions on future clinical trials and business strategies.

The German company, specializing in orthopedics in Europe, confirmed the effectiveness of OSCA in early clinical trials. The company has expressed strong interest and a willingness to form a dedicated task force to explore OSCA's entry into the European and U.S. markets.

“We have received strong interest and numerous proposals from the industry, as we have demonstrated OSCA’s potential as the world’s first fundamental treatment for osteoarthritis by confirming not only pain relief but also structural regeneration through Phase I clinical trials in Korea,” said the Business Development Headquarters of Kangstem Biotech. “We are committed to ensuring that these promising opportunities lead to further achievements, such as the global licensing and export of OSCA technology.”

Interest in our atopic dermatitis treatment also continued. A large European pharmaceutical company specializing in antibody treatments for atopic diseases expressed interest in FURESTEM-AD, particularly in patients who do not respond to antibody therapy, and in the long-term efficacy of FURESTEM-AD. There was also discussion of global development strategies for atopic dermatitis treatments, including European clinical plans.
