Kangstem Biotech announced on August 3 that it has appointed Professor Kyung-sun Kang of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Seoul National University, the company's founder and current Technical Advisor, as its Chief Scientific Officer (CSO).

The appointment is intended to further strengthen the company's research and development capabilities based on its stem cell and organoid platform technologies while advancing its global business development and clinical development strategies. His scientific expertise will also play a key role in shaping the clinical development and commercialization strategies of the company's major pipeline programs, including OSCA, its investigational treatment for knee osteoarthritis, and its organoid-based drug evaluation platform.

Professor Kang commented, "Since its founding, Kangstem Biotech has pursued the vision of becoming a global stem cell platform company. As CSO, I will work to further integrate research and clinical development to deliver innovative therapeutic technologies to patients while continuously creating technologies and products that gain recognition in the global market."

CEO Jong-cheon Na stated, "Professor Kang's appointment as Chief Scientific Officer marks an important milestone in further enhancing the company's scientific competitiveness. By combining the founder's scientific vision with the company's commercialization capabilities, we will accelerate global licensing, strategic partnerships, and new drug development while continuing to enhance shareholder value."
